Facility Manager & Instructor

Karen Vicencio: 085 141 5555

Karen Vicencio originally hails from California, where she operated HK Farms, a well known training facility.  At HK Farms, Karen specialized in working with problem horses, taking horses that had been given up on by other trainers, and helping them with their issues, until they became good safe riding and successful show horses.  Many of them, along with her students, went  on to win at the national level in hunters, jumpers, eventing, dressage, and ridden classes.  Horses and riders she trained won medal finals, local and regional championships in dressage, and show jumping, national championships in working hunters, show jumping, and ridden classes, and regional horse of the year awards in eventing.  Her students won many local and regional equitation championships and medal finals. She moved to Ireland 12 years ago, where she has managed several large equestrian facilities, and has also run her own business, the Irish School of Horsemanship. She has herself trained and showed show jumpers, dressage horses, eventers, driving horses, western pleasure horses, and games horses.  She has also ridden and trained reining horses, western pleasure horses, driven singles and pairs extensively, shown and won in reinsmanship classes, worked with the late great top natural horseman Tom Dorrance (mentor to many great natural horsemanship trainers and instructors including Pat Parelli, Buck Brannaman, and Monty Roberts), rode and trained racehorses, and managed an equine veterinary clinic and breeding facility.  She earned her instructor’s and horsemaster’s certifications at the Pacific Horse Center in California, completing the course with top scores, under the tutelage of the well known Larry Langer (well known trainer, rider, and instructor, manager of equestrian events for the Atlanta Olympic games and world cups, and owner of LEG (a show and equestrian center management company), as well as an inductee in the Show Jumping Hall of Fame.
